I bought this one because it is the one that my physical therapist uses. It is very well made. However, if you have a saw, a router, and a source for some good quality solid hardwood, you could easily make one. If you aren't inclined to mess with that, this one is great, and will outlast me, I am sure.
Board is good size for most people. I assumed the rocker part had beveled edges like the one I had used in Physical Therapy, it did not. But it is challenging and great for balance. Instructional material is very clear. More instructional material on-line adds to the challenge.
I had used this product at my trainer's studio so ordered same some time ago from Amazon, with great satisfaction. Recently I purchased another through Amazon as a gift only to be embarrassed by the lesser quality. The description no longer pertains; the edges are no longer slightly beveled, indeed the piece of wood is now soft unfinished knotty pine, the entire item is reduced quality and finish.
It wasn't quite what I had expected. The description wasn't given very well. I had expected rounded rockers on bottom, not a board. It works, but not as good as the one at the physical therapy. I feel a description should be given of the bottom as well. I didn't see one.
Do not buy this item. This is not a true rocker board as the rocker bottom is actually a square shaped beam. As a result the board does not rock smoothly from side to side. Note none of the photos show the rocking angle and the beam until you purchase the item. The seller also does not allow any returns. If you are looking for a rocker board pay the extra dollars and get one with a half circle wood rocker bottom that will give you at least a 40 degree angle movement. And one that is branded. The only good thing about this item was the non-slip grip material on the top was good. Too bad it doesn't rock.
Had hip replacement and during pt the therapist had me working on balance on this board. I found it so beneficial that I added it to my home efforts. I can't say enough good things about it and the positive results it continues to provide now that pt is long over
This is a good balance board for people with poor balance. It is stable enough that you can maintain your balance on it if you concentrate, unlike some boards that are too difficult for people with moderate to severe balance problems.
My friend has used this for continuing physical therapy at home to stretch/strengthen muscles in her ankle (broken terribly 10+ years ago). It helps her with balance and she said it is a great device indeed for her to use daily.
